myths and facts about distilled water You can find a lot of information about water distillation, water distillers and drinking distilled water. But, somehow there are too many myths and some myths about water distillers have been around for 10 to 15 years. Once, I have even read that drinking of the distilled water can cause an early death of individuals! Amazing! But today more people try to be aware of their health and must be more informed about drinking distilled water.

First of all let us review the common facts about distilled water.

Fact 1) distillation is not a new process but a very old method of purifying water.

Fact 2) water distillation is the most effective remover of contaminants over any other water treatment system.

Fact 3) distilled water can be compared to the definition of pure drinking water ( H20 ), it is consistent.

Fact 4) water distillation removes the broadest range of organic, inorganic and biological (bacteria, viruses, etc.) contaminants. Distillation is more effective method and removes a greater percentage of these impurities than filtering, everse osmosis, ultraviolet etc. Moreover, these methods must be serviced and are not as consistent as water distillation.

So what is the nature of the distillation process? It is the process of heating a mixture and condensing the resulting vapor to produce a more nearly pure substance.

Now let us dispute some known myths about distilled water.

Myth 1) drinking distilled Water leach minerals from my body.

False. Some manufacturers use this myth to sell their product and want you to believe this because distilled water is so pure and drinking it will leach minerals from your body, thereby robbing you of good health and nutrition. Please, be sure, there is no any proven or documented fact in this myth.

Myth 2) drinking distilled water for long periods of time cause deterioration of my teeth.

False. This is a truly falsification. The negative message a filter sellers wants you to believe is that drinking distilled water for long periods, will destroy your teeth by deteriorating them. But the fact is that distilled water removed all traces of fluoride. And today many people want the fluoride be removed from their drinking water and distillation is an excellent way of doing it!

Myth 3) distillation takes out all the beneficial minerals that I need to live.

False. Distillation process removes minerals from the water, but mostly all of the beneficial minerals your body receives are not from water. They come from food: fruits, meat, poultry, vegetables, nuts, grains and dairy products are where the body gets it’s beneficial minerals from. The amount of minerals in water is so insignificant that you need have to drink about 600 8-ounce glasses of tap water to obtain the recommended daily allowance of calcium. When most of the people can’t even drink 8 glasses a day that are recommended by health experts. This is simply another sales trick!
